Is this really my life?!?!

Visitors
So this past weekend, we had Damion's family in town from Lafayette. I enjoyed having his dad, step-mother, and brother here. We always look forward to spending time with family since his is all down there and majority of mine, aside from my mother and brother, is in San Diego and Denver. We see his side maybe one every two months and mine maybe once or twice a year. Does anyone every realize how exhausting it is to have visitors in town though? I find myself mentally and physically drained from this past week. We spent all week cleaning, decorating and getting ready for this. We have lived in our house since February but we have been making some changes to our house that have kept us from hanging art on the walls and curtains over the windows, etc. So we got the house ready and was doing last minute details maybe an hour before they got here Friday. Saturday morning comes around, and since we have guest, we are to be up early to make sure everyone is fed and taken care of. We decided to make a gumbo and have friends over to meet his family. So we ended up entertaining for about 20 people. I find myself the first ones awake and the last ones to be asleep when we have guest. So needless to say, I am ready for bed! I love having guest, but once they have to depart (which is always sad) I love relaxing too!

Seven Pounds
I love the movie Seven Pounds with Will Smith. Everytime I watch it, I find myself saying "this is such a good movie." Thew plot is about a man who gets in a car wreck with his fiance and kills her and the 6 passengers in the other vehicle. He spends his remaining time planning ways to save 7 peoples lives. He does this by organ transplants and donations. The final donation is to a woman he falls for who only has a month to live. She is in desperate need of a heart transplant. He commits suicide to save these peoples lives. This is how I find most (but not all) people in real life. Takes a loss to realize what's gone or to make changes. Something bad has to happen before people do things that can change another persons life. What ever happened to helping people for the good of mankind? Not saying everyone has to commit suicide to donate their organs, but there are people out there that need blood, or bone marrow, or a liver, kidney or whatnot, and those of us with all of that, don't help. I am not judging because I am part of the population with working organs and blood and do nothing about it. I think it is time I make a change and start helping in a small, but meaningful way. I will at least donate blood. How about ya'll?

Paranormal Activity 2
I went with one of my best friends and her husband to a movie last weekend. Damion, my boyfriend, works in the oil field so he is always one call and was called out that night. The movie started around 11pm or so, so we didn't get out until 1am or so. Paranormal Activity was the choice of Cindy and I. Phil is not so into scary movies as we are, but after a few drinks at dinner, we talked him into it! He never saw the first one with us, but Cindy and I loved it so decided the second one, was a must. As we sit though the movie, I watch Phil jump and scream like a little girl! See the reason he doesn't like scary movies is because he actually gets scared! Hahaha. As I laugh at him when the movie is over, even though it scared me as well, I begin my adventure home alone, at 1am. We live in north Bossier so I have a good 20 minute drive from Tinseltown to freak myself out. Although we are in a secluded gated neighborhood, I walk in through my garage and notice my back door is wide open. Needless to say, I freak out! Knowing that when I checked all the doors before I left, I must have not shut and door completely so it wouldn't have locked when I turned the deadbolt. I about hyperventilate as I begin to think of every terrible scary thing that could happen. I am one of those people that imagine every escape route from my house if someone or something is in my house! I am a bit OCD on being by myself at night. The gated neighborhood even has recording video cameras that surround our house and yet, I still freak out! So now my next plan is to get Damion (me really) a big dog for Christmas. I keep telling myself a big dog will make me feel less scared of being alone at night. Honey and Hope (my 10 pound dogs) won't do anything except roll over and want an intruder to rub their stomachs. Hahaha. The actual fact is, I get scared the most when I watch scary movies, but I love them. Is a big dog really gonna protect me if a demon is in my house?!?!?!?! Watch paranormal activity to answer that question!

Food at the fair!
So everyone is talking about going to the fair and eating all the great food. I always get way to excited for the fair as well. Just a good experience for my boyfriend and I to get out of the house, put down the work and let loose. The only issue is, the food! When I go to the fair I feel like I need to eat as terrible and as much as possible. As a person that doesn't eat red meat, or eat unhealthy for most of the week (except my 1 cheat day a week) it sometimes makes me sick! Funnel cakes, french fries, anything that smells good is what I eat. Then for the next 3 days I pay for it because my body is not used to all the friend food and grease! But it is worth it. My boyfriend asked me every year, "why do you do it to yourself?" Heck I dunno! Because it's good. HAHAHA

Is it better to be safe than sorry?
One of my employees calls me and tells me that she locked to doors to the store because a guy pulled into the vacant parking lot, stands in front of the store in all black clothes with a black bag draped across his shoulder. He began to take pictures (with his phone in his extremely shaky hands) of the parking lot and our front door. He then paces back and forth in front of our store smoking a cigarette. Chelsey locks the door, keep in mind usually weekend shifts, only one girl works. The guy then begins to pull on the door and bang on the windows. So Chelsey calls me and asks what to do, I tell her to immediately call the police just to inform them and have a patrol officer come to the shopping center. I also tell her I will be there soon so I go right over. In discussion with my boyfriend on the way home from the store, is it better to stereotype this guy and be safe or is it overreacting that we automatically assume he's trying to do something fishy in front of our store?

Why does technology hate me?!?!?
A couple weeks ago my laptop crashed. FYI... the computer was just bought last year so it is not an old piece of crap! About a month or two ago, the computer in my Bossier location of business crashed. FYI... the business requires the computer for EVERYTHING we do in the store. Without it, we can no absolutely nothing! After battling my work computer for about a week, I finally got all data back, Anti-virus software installed, all the programmed files reinstalled and back in business. So last week I got my personal laptop back and running and installed a new Anti-virus software. Thought the issue was solved. Well of course not! Last night, my computer crashes again. Fixed it. Then it crashes again this morning. Why me?!?!?!? Is it my touch to electronics that makes it say, "Hey, Lyndsi just touched me. I'm gonna quit working. I don't like her. Let's make her struggle and work on me all day." I think that is how it goes down when I get on a desktop, laptop, voice recorder (which wouldn't work 2 weeks ago when I was trying to make PowerPoint for another class), TVs, DVD players, basically anything that has power. Oh yea, and ALL of the iPhones I have gone though. I think I was meant to live back in the stone age when sticks and stones was the basic tools needed for survival, Now, I couldn't imagine a day without cell phone's, computers, and TVs. You think the sticks and stones would manage to break if I lived back then?!?! I Do!

Are you kidding me?
So I have two small dogs, Honey and Hope. Honey is actually the mother of hope, but Honey is the one that carries around a "baby." It is a fuzzy pink squeaky bone that is about the size of her body. She carries this thing around all day and needs it to go to sleep at night; she sucks on it. Keep in mind she is six years old! I have had to replace this toy probably about seven times. Well her current "baby," she has chewed a hole in the pulled out the squeaker and some of the stuffing, so it's time for a new one. I usually have backup ready, but after long hours on the internet, could not find these things anymore. I know I'm in trouble. Well I come across a company that has them for super cheap; like $3.50 per toy. I order five of them (each one will usually last about 6 months to a year). I pay more for the rush shipping than I do for the actual toys. So I get home last night around 8 or 9 or so and it is dark but I can see a package on my doorstep. Thank god!!! I'm tired of waking up in the morning to be covered in more stuffing from her old one! As I'm looking at the rather small box I'm thinking to myself, "man, they must have shoved these things in there!" I open the box and I pull out these tiny bones about 2 inches in length. Now I'm in real trouble. I put her old toy up there to compare the size to the new one and all five of them lines up in a row do not equal the size of her old one. So, I'm gonna give this a shot. I cut all the tags off this toothpick size toy and hand it to her. She looks at me like "are you kidding me" and walks off and somewhat starts to sulk. Lays down, head down, won't look at me. It was my mistake to squeak one of them before she saw it so she knew she was getting a new one (which usually excites her). So, did I get any sleep last night? Not really. And why is that? Because Honey wouldn't lay down as she was searching for her "baby" last night that doesn't exist anymore.
